Girlalala Death
The family of the victim says that Whyte was “well-known” to law enforcement before this incident, though further details about his prior record were not immediately available.
“Girlalala” had built a strong following online, both for her makeup skills and her openness about her identity; born Maurice Jaden Harrison, she identified as a transgender woman, and was much loved by her community of friends, fans, and fellow creators.
Her family, devastated by the loss, released a statement describing her as “full of life, generous, and endlessly creative,” and expressed heartbreak that “someone she loved may have taken her life.”
At this point, investigators have not publicly confirmed a motive, but the relationship between the victim and the suspect is under close scrutiny. Authorities are continuing to gather evidence, and a formal court date has been set for the coming weeks.
Meanwhile, tributes from friends, fans, and other influencers are flooding social media. Many are calling for justice, as well as more visibility and protection for transgender creators and others in marginalized communities.
