El Paso, CO Fatal Shooting: Sheriff’s Office Deputies Investigations on Milburn Drive

Deputies with the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office are investigating a shooting that left one person dead and another critically injured Wednesday afternoon in the 4400 block of Milburn Drive in unincorporated El Paso County.

According to a statement from the Sheriff’s Office, the Regional Communications Center received multiple 911 calls at approximately 1:27 p.m. reporting gunfire in the area.

When patrol deputies arrived on scene, they located one deceased adult male and one adult female suffering from critical injuries. The woman was transported to a local hospital, where she is expected to survive, authorities said.

Deputies detained one person at the scene for questioning. As of Wednesday evening, no criminal charges have been filed, and investigators are working to determine the circumstances leading up to the shooting.

“All persons involved in the incident have been accounted for, and there is no known danger to the community,” the Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

The El Paso County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the deceased man and the official cause and manner of death once next of kin have been notified and the investigation allows.

Officials noted that the investigation remains in its early stages, and a significant law enforcement presence is expected to remain in the Milburn Drive area throughout the evening as detectives and crime scene technicians continue to gather evidence.

Residents are advised to avoid the immediate area while the investigation is ongoing.
