SPRINGFIELD, Mo.- Springfield police are investigating a shooting that happened at The 505 apartment complex on Wednesday night that left one dead and one injured.
SPD says a shots-fired call came in at 11:21 p.m. When they arrived, police found a woman outside with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. Police then found a man’s body on the fourth floor. They believe both victims are in their 20s.
Officers say they are looking for the person responsible for the shooting.
“I didn’t really know what was going on, so I had like no clue, I was like, what the heck was happening. I called my roommate and then he told me what was going on, so yeah, it was pretty crazy,” said Malachi Vincent, who lives in The 505.
The 505 apartment complex is on East St Louis Street north of the Discovery Center. The apartment advertises on its website that it is primarily student housing.
We are working to find out if the victims knew the shooter, what led up to the shooting and a description of the person responsible.
