The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) is investigating a tragic and violent incident that occurred Saturday afternoon at the W.C. “Dub” Brassell Adult Detention Center (DBDC) in Pine Bluff.

According to officials, the altercation took place around 2:47 p.m. inside a housing area of the facility and involved multiple detainees. During the fight, two detainees were stabbed with foreign objects. Detention officers immediately responded, removing the injured individuals from the area and performing lifesaving measures until first responders arrived. Despite continued medical efforts, both victims were pronounced deceased.
The deceased have been identified as Darrion Williams, 24, and Jonathan Danard Harris, 22.
Following the incident, the detention center was placed on lockdown, restricting movement throughout the facility as staff secured the scene and preserved evidence. Investigators have identified at least two other detainees believed to have been involved, who will be interviewed as part of the ongoing criminal investigation.
“Today’s events are devastating,” said Sheriff Lafayette Woods Jr. “On behalf of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, I extend my deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of Mr. Williams and Mr. Harris. We are pursuing a thorough criminal investigation to determine exactly what happened and to hold all responsible parties accountable.”
Sheriff Woods, members of the command staff, and the facility chaplain, Lieutenant Anthony Craig, met with both victims’ families to offer support and formally notify them of the tragic loss.
This remains an active criminal investigation. The JCSO will release additional information, including potential charges, as developments occur and when doing so will not compromise the integrity of the investigation.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office asks for patience and privacy for the families of Darrion Williams and Jonathan Danard Harris as they grieve this heartbreaking and senseless loss.
