Warrants: Men illegally in U.S. additionally charged in deadly Upstate shooting

The Greenville County Sheriff’s Office said two suspects arrested in connection to an October deadly shooting have been additionally charged.

Deputies said 19-year-old Adicson A. Gutierrez Martinez and 21-year-old Yeremy D. Lopez Lopez are both facing possession of a firearm by an unlawful alien and burglary, first-degree. Martinez was also charged with attempted murder.

This comes after the two adult suspects and two juvenile suspects were arrested after deputies responded to Creektop Court on Oct. 13 and found two victims. Deputies said both victims were taken to the hospital but one of them, 17-year-old Juan Pablo Cuartas-Paez, passed away.

Initially, the sheriff’s office said Martinez and Lopez Lopez were charged with murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime and conspiracy. The two juvenile suspects were charged with conspiracy and accessory.

According to arrest warrants, Martinez and Lopez Lopez were both illegally in the United States.
