A 21-year old man and two 18-year old women were found suffering from gunshot wounds. One of the women died at the scene.

Shortly after, another 21-year-old man arrived at Yale New Haven Hospital, also with a non-life threatening gunshot wound.

“The officers canvassed the area, I was out there last night at around 3:30 a.m. and went to the hospital after that,” Justin Elicker said.

According to video evidence, police say two people appeared to have been shooting at each other.

“It seems like this was some innocent victims who were caught in a crossfire,” Officer Christian Bruckhart said. “We’re trying to go through anything we can find, ballistics, video, witness statements.”

With New Haven nightlife often outside of his window, resident Bill Dully says it is common to fights break out. Friday night, he says he was keeping an eye on crowds forming before he heard gunshots along Center Street.

“You can set your watch to it, from twenty of two to twenty after two when the clubs let out its mayhem,” Dully said.

This is now the second quadruple shooting, in the same area and on the same day last year, Dully says he has witnessed. It’s an upsetting pattern he hopes law enforcement puts a stop to.

“You’ve got to be on guard, you’ve got to be aware of your environment,” Dully said. “They just need to bring back more police but that’ll take some time.”

Law enforcement are asking anyone who witnessed the incident to call detectives at 203-946-6304 or through the department’s anonymous tip-line at 866-888-8477.
