CARLISLE, Ark. – Detectives with the Arkansas State Police are investigating after a shooting on Sunday morning left one dead and a suspect on the run from law enforcement.
Officers with the Carlisle Police Department responded to a shooting call in the 400 block of North Greenlaw Avenue where they found 37-year-old Eric Roland of Searcy dead from apparent gunshot wounds.

Police said witnesses at the scene identified 40-year-old Cyle Cooney of Carlisle as the suspect, and he reportedly drove away in a white Dodge Ram.
Cooney was later located by deputies from the Lonoke County Sheriff’s Office at around 8:30 a.m. and was arrested.

He was transported to the Lonoke County Detention Center where he is being held on charges including first degree murder, unlawful discharge of a firearm from a vehicle and possession of a firearm by certain persons.
Roland’s body will be transported to the Arkansas State Crime Lab to determine the cause and manner of death.
