Heavy Police Response Lockdown at Palmdale High School After Report of Armed Suspects on Campus

Palmdale High School was placed on lockdown Friday afternoon following reports of two armed individuals seen running through the campus, prompting a swift and heavily coordinated law enforcement response.

According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, deputies were dispatched to the school after campus security reported visual contact with two possible “417” suspects — a police code indicating individuals armed with a gun — running across school grounds.

SUPPORT THE FAMILY, GOD BLESS YOU

Deputies immediately initiated a lockdown, securing the perimeter and calling for additional backup units to assist with containment as they searched the campus.

A sergeant at the scene later reported that he and another deputy had detained two suspects near the middle of the campus, close to the basketball courts. The individuals were described as uncooperative during the initial investigation. Law enforcement requested two more units respond “code 3” — with lights and sirens — to assist.

Shortly afterward, authorities confirmed the situation was under control, declaring it “Code 4,” meaning no further threat was present. A backpack believed to belong to the suspects was recovered at the scene.

No injuries have been reported, and investigators have not confirmed whether a firearm was located.

Students and staff were kept safely in classrooms during the incident as deputies cleared the area. The lockdown has since been lifted, though law enforcement presence remains on campus as the investigation continues.

Authorities have not released the identities of the detained individuals, and it remains unclear whether they are students of Palmdale High School.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is expected to release additional information as the investigation develops.
