San Marcos Police Investigate Second Shooting Hours After Fatal Downtown Incident

UPDATE — San Marcos Shootings:
San Marcos police are investigating a second, unrelated shooting that took place early Sunday morning, just hours after a fatal shooting on the downtown square left one person dead and two others injured.

According to authorities, the second incident happened in a residential area on the city’s south side, where officers responded to reports of gunfire shortly before dawn. When police arrived, they discovered evidence of a shooting but said no victims were immediately located. Investigators are working to determine what led to the gunfire and whether anyone was injured.

SUPPORT THE FAMILY, GOD BLESS YOU

The earlier downtown shooting, which occurred near popular nightlife spots, prompted a large police presence and temporary lockdown of the area. One victim was pronounced dead at the scene, while two others were rushed to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police emphasized that the two shootings appear to be unrelated, but both remain under active investigation. Extra patrols have been deployed throughout the city as detectives continue to gather evidence and interview witnesses.

Authorities are urging anyone with information or video footage from either scene to contact the San Marcos Police Department or Crime Stoppers.
