Warren Easton High School announced classes would be canceled Friday while New Orleans police investigated an off-campus incident involving two students at a nearby business Thursday.
“The safety and well-being of our students remain our top priority,” a statement from the school read Thursday night.
Warren Easton is cooperating with NOPD in the investigation, the school statement read. Families and students will receive information about next steps and available support.
Warren Easton did not say what the incident entailed.
A blurred video circulating on social media shows three or four people fighting outside of the McDonald’s on the 2700 block of Canal Street near the high school in Mid-City. A photo also showed the entrance to the McDonald’s parking lot blocked by yellow police tape as police investigators were on the scene.
NOPD did not immediately return a call for comment Friday morning.
This is a developing story. Check back later for updates.
