The La Crosse County community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of 82-year-old Janice Symiczek, who tragically lost her life in a three-vehicle crash Thursday morning on Highway 53 north of Holmen. According to the La Crosse County Sheriff’s Office, Janice was driving her Jeep when it crossed the centerline and collided head-on with an oncoming dump truck. Despite the immediate response from emergency crews, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash occurred around 7:56 a.m. near Sylvester Road, closing Highway 53 for more than six hours as investigators worked to understand what happened. The Wisconsin State Patrol is assisting in the ongoing investigation.
