A person was found dead after a fire in a Valley Village apartment Thursday morning.
The fire was reported shortly before 10:30 a.m. in a two-story garden-style apartment building in the 11900 block of West Kling Street, the Los Angeles Fire Department said in a news release.

Forty-four firefighters knocked down the blaze within about 20 minutes, though they located a person in a unit.
That person, whose name, age and gender have not yet been released, was declared dead on scene.
The fire was prevented from spreading to other units, and its cause is under investigation.
