The two workers who lost their lives on Friday due to a crane collapse at the waterfront in Everett, Massachusetts were identified on Monday.

Larriston Lake
As reported by the Middlesex District Attorney’s office, Larriston Lake, aged 44 from Roslindale, and Paul Ledwell, aged 37 from Middleboro, died while they were engaged in work on Rover Street, in close proximity to the Encore Boston Harbor casino.
Everett Mayor Carlo DeMaria stated that a cable snapped, resulting in the crane falling on the men, who were in the process of cutting pipes off the dock.
At the time, crews were dismantling a former Exxon Mobil facility. According to DeMaria, the collapse caused one of the workers to plunge into the water on Friday.
One worker was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other was transported to a nearby hospital but was later declared dead.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the U.S. Coast Guard are set to visit the site of the crane collapse on Monday.
Representatives from the Coast Guard indicated that they are working to ascertain the best approach for conducting the investigation. The deaths of the men are under investigation by the Middlesex District Attorney’s office, along with Everett and Massachusetts State Police, and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
Pile Drivers & Divers Local 56 issued a statement on Friday confirming that both workers who perished in the collapse were union members.
“We place a significant emphasis on prioritizing our efforts to ensure the safety of our members. It deeply saddens us that our members and their families have been affected by this tragic incident,” the union stated.
