Authorities are investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash that occurred Monday afternoon on King William Road (Route 30), leaving one person dead and causing major traffic delays in the area.

According to reports from the King William Sheriff’s Office (KWSO) and King William Fire Department (KWFD), emergency crews were dispatched to the 13,500 block of King William Road for a serious crash involving two vehicles, one of which had overturned into a ditch. Upon arrival, first responders found one person trapped inside the overturned vehicle.

Firefighters worked swiftly to free the occupant, but tragically, one individual was pronounced deceased at the scene. A medical helicopter was requested to transport additional victims for treatment, though their conditions have not been released at this time.

The Virginia State Police (VSP) responded to assist with the investigation and traffic control. The roadway remains temporarily closed as crash reconstruction teams work to determine the cause of the accident. Motorists are being urged to avoid the area and expect significant delays.

Authorities have not yet released the identity of the deceased pending notification of next of kin.
