PHOENIX, AZ —** A 32-year-old man was killed early Friday morning in a **hit-and-run crash** that left him dying in the middle of the road as the driver fled the scene. Police say **Miguel Alteres** was struck while crossing **43rd Avenue near McDowell Road** just before **5:45 a.m.** Witnesses told officers they saw a **gray Jeep Cherokee** stop briefly after the impact. A woman stepped out of the vehicle, appeared to look toward the injured man, then got back in and **drove away**, leaving Alteres gravely injured.
When Phoenix Fire crews arrived, they found Alteres lying in the roadway with severe trauma. Despite life-saving efforts, he was pronounced **dead at the scene**.
