Authorities are investigating a deadly wrong-way crash that occurred early Saturday morning, October 25, 2025, on Interstate 69 north of Bloomington, which left one man dead and another seriously injured.

Johnathon Clark Car Accident
According to the Indiana State Police, 33-year-old Johnathon Clark, of Nashville, Indiana, was driving southbound in the northbound lanes of I-69 near the 126.5-mile marker when his 2016 blue Jeep Wrangler collided head-on with a 2011 blue GMC Sierra pickup truck driven by 29-year-old Solomon Dillard-Rynard of Bloomington.
The impact of the crash caused both vehicles to come to rest in the median. Clark’s Jeep flipped and caught fire shortly after the collision. Responding troopers and deputies from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department used multiple fire extinguishers in an effort to put out the flames before they engulfed the vehicle, but despite their efforts, Clark died at the scene from injuries sustained in the crash.
Dillard-Rynard, identified as a Bloomington firefighter and Army National Guard member, sustained serious injuries and was transported to IU Health Bloomington Hospital for emergency treatment. Authorities have not yet released an update on his condition.
The Indiana State Police continue to investigate what led Clark to drive the wrong way on the interstate. Both lanes of I-69 were closed for several hours as crews worked to clear the scene and collect evidence.
Officials remind drivers to remain alert, especially during early morning hours, and to report any vehicles seen traveling the wrong way. The community has rallied around Firefighter Solomon Dillard-Rynard, offering prayers and support as he continues his recovery.
