The Lexington community is mourning the tragic loss of Jose Luis Hernandez Sosa, a 59-year-old bicyclist who was killed in a devastating hit-and-run crash late Saturday night, October 25, 2025. The incident occurred around 11 p.m. near Georgetown Street and Price Road, just outside New Circle Road.

According to the Lexington Police Department, officers responded to reports of a vehicle striking a cyclist. When they arrived, they found Jose with life-threatening injuries. Despite immediate efforts from first responders and CPR performed at the scene, he was sadly pronounced dead by the Fayette County Coroner’s Office. His official cause of death was listed as “presumed multiple blunt force traumatic injuries,” and an autopsy is pending.
