The Batavia Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a single-vehicle crash that resulted in a fatality on Friday, October 24, 2025, at approximately 3:23 p.m. on State Route 749 near milepost 4 in Ohio Township, Clermont County.

William Gabriel Car Accident
Preliminary reports indicate that a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by 75-year-old William Gabriel of Amelia, was traveling eastbound when it traveled off the right side of the roadway. The vehicle then struck two utility poles before coming to rest off the roadway.
Two passengers were in the vehicle at the time: 19-year-old Natalie Gilreath of Cincinnati and 21-year-old Trail Shelton of Amelia. Mr. Gabriel and Mr. Shelton sustained serious, non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to a local hospital for treatment. Ms. Gilreath suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Officials confirmed that she was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. It is currently unknown if the other occupants were restrained.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by Pierce Township Police Department, Pierce Township Fire and EMS, Ohio Township Fire and EMS, UC AirCare, and Gray’s Towing.
The crash remains under investigation as authorities work to determine the circumstances that led to this tragic incident.
