Authorities say a white pickup truck crashed into three utility poles before rolling several times. Dylan Millhouse, a 23-year-old passenger from Etters, was ejected from the vehicle during the rollover. It remains unclear whether he was wearing a seatbelt at the time. Tragically, Millhouse was pronounced dead at the scene by the York County Coroner.
Two other males in the truck were injured and taken to Penn State Health Holy Spirit Medical Center for treatment. The extent of their injuries is not yet known.
Fairview Township Police Chief confirmed that a total of four males were inside the truck when the crash occurred. One of the individuals fled the scene on foot, and it is currently unclear whether he was the driver or another occupant. No one has been taken into custody as of now. Police have stated that speed appears to have been a factor in the crash.
The collision caused a power outage affecting approximately 20 customers in the area. According to First Energy Corporation, the estimated restoration time has been extended to 4 p.m. The crash also led to a road closure of Valley Road between Beinhower Road and Tassel Lane for an extended period as crews investigated the scene.
Witnesses and neighbors at the scene described seeing the four males from the truck, some of whom had visible injuries. One witness reported seeing the individual who fled asking not to call the police.
In response to the outage and the crash, Old Trail Intermediate School announced a remote learning day for Friday. The West Shore School District issued a statement confirming that classes would be held virtually, following an inclement weather-related schedule.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing, and authorities are asking anyone with information to come forward. Updates on the situation are being provided by WGAL News 8.
