Police swarmed Price Elementary School in San Antonio on Thursday morning after reports of a possible active shooter led to the campus being placed on a hard lockdown.

According to the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD), officers were dispatched to the school shortly after 10 a.m. following a 911 call reporting a potential threat on or near the campus. The school immediately went into lockdown as law enforcement moved in to secure the area.
In a statement, San Antonio Independent School District (SAISD) officials said the lockdown was implemented “out of an abundance of caution” while officers investigated.
“Price Elementary School is currently on a hard lockdown due to a report of an active threat in the area,” the district said. “All students and staff are safe inside the building as police conduct their investigation. Please do not come to the campus at this time.”
Multiple SAPD units, including tactical teams, were seen surrounding the school and monitoring nearby streets. The surrounding neighborhood was temporarily closed to traffic as officers worked to clear the scene.
Parents and guardians gathered outside police barricades, awaiting updates from school officials. District representatives assured families that communication would be sent out as soon as it was safe to do so.
As of Thursday afternoon, authorities had not confirmed any injuries or gunfire and emphasized that the lockdown remained in place as a precaution while officers completed a full sweep of the campus.
“Our officers are conducting a thorough investigation to ensure everyone’s safety,” an SAPD spokesperson said. “We ask the public to remain patient and avoid the area until further notice.”
The lockdown was expected to remain in effect until police determined the area was secure.
This is a developing story, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
