Newmarket Fatal Shooting: One Injured, York Regional Police Investigate Incident

One person has been taken to the hospital with serious injuries after an early-morning shooting in Newmarket, according to York Regional Police.

Officers were called to the area of Bathurst Street and Mulock Drive shortly after 4:30 a.m. following reports of gunfire. When they arrived, police located a victim suffering from serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The individual was transported to the hospital for treatment.

Authorities said the suspect or suspects fled the area before officers arrived. A large police presence remains in the neighborhood as investigators work to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

“Residents can expect to see a heavy police presence this morning as officers canvass the area, gather evidence, and speak with witnesses,” police said in a statement.

York Regional Police are urging anyone with information or dashcam footage from the area around the time of the incident to come forward and contact investigators or Crime Stoppers anonymously.

Officials are asking members of the public to avoid the Bathurst Street and Mulock Drive area while the investigation continues.
