Accident Overview
Early Sunday morning, October 19, 2025, at approximately 6:21 a.m., a fatal two-vehicle collision occurred on SD Highway 11 near mile marker 47, about eight miles south of Canton, South Dakota. Jared Gibson was driving southbound in a 2002 Volkswagen Jetta when, for reasons still under investigation, his vehicle crossed into the northbound lane and collided head-on with a 1992 Ford Ranger driven by Robert Carey Tinklepaugh, 52, of Alcester, South Dakota.
