Bay Lake Tower Suicide – Death: Another Death Under Investigation at Disney’s Bay Lake Tower

Authorities are investigating another death at Disney’s Bay Lake Tower at the Contemporary Resort after an individual was found dead early Thursday morning in what officials are describing as an apparent suicide.

Law enforcement officers were called to the resort around Thursday morning after reports of an unresponsive individual near the shuffleboard court area. When deputies arrived, they discovered a body at the scene.

Details remain limited, but witnesses described a significant law enforcement and security presence in the area. According to on-site reports, orange sheriff’s tape cordoned off sections of the courtyard between the lobby and pool, and a temporary tent was erected over part of the shuffleboard court where the incident occurred.

“Hasty scaffolding and tall towel carts were moved into place to block the scene,” one guest said. “Police and Disney security were everywhere, and cast members were stationed near elevators to keep people from looking down at the courtyard.”

Officials confirmed that the incident is being investigated as a suicide, though the victim’s identity has not been released.

This marks the second death in less than two weeks at Bay Lake Tower, a popular Disney Vacation Club property connected to Disney’s Contemporary Resort near Magic Kingdom. Earlier this month, another individual died in a separate apparent suicide at the same location, prompting concern and sadness within the Disney community.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation. In a brief statement, officials said, “At this time, the circumstances of the incident are consistent with a suicide. There is no indication of foul play.”

Disney representatives have not issued a public comment regarding Thursday’s incident but are said to be cooperating fully with authorities.

Guests reported that parts of the back plaza and pool area remained closed for several hours as investigators processed the scene. By late morning, most of the visible law enforcement activity had been cleared, though several cast members remained nearby directing guests away from the affected area.

The identities of both recent victims have not been released, and no connection between the two incidents has been indicated.
