A man who was critically injured in a shooting Monday afternoon at a Memphis apartment complex has tragically died from his injuries. Family identified the victim as Mexico Martinez.

Officers were called to the Summereast Apartments, located near Bartlett Road and Biscoe Avenue, just before 1:30 p.m. after receiving reports of a shooting. When police arrived, they found Martinez suffering from gunshot wounds. He was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition but was later pronounced dead.
According to investigators, multiple suspects fled the scene in a silver hatchback immediately following the shooting. Police believe the victim and suspects knew each other, though no further descriptions have been released at this time.
Authorities have not yet made any arrests, and the investigation remains ongoing as detectives continue to gather evidence and interview witnesses.
