Family and friends of 18-year-old Kimber Mills are preparing to say their final goodbyes on Tuesday. Mills was one of four people shot at a bonfire in Pinson on October 18, a tragic incident that has left the community grieving.

An honor walk is planned this afternoon for the Cleveland High School cheerleader as doctors prepare her for organ donation. Mills’ heart and lungs will be donated to someone in need, offering a legacy of life amid the tragedy. Funds raised through a GoFundMe campaign will support the other victims still recovering from the shooting.

The outpouring of love and support for Mills has been overwhelming. Her sister, Ashley, shared with WBRC, “She is so loved by this amazing community behind her. She is beyond loved, and we are so thankful for everyone who has shown up to support her.” Over 100 people reportedly visited the hospital Sunday to show their support.

Authorities have identified 27-year-old Steven Tyler Whitehead as the suspect in the case. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Whitehead is in jail and faces charges in connection with the shooting.

The community continues to rally around Mills’ family, honoring her life and the impact she had on everyone who knew her.
