One Injured in Police-Involved Shooting in Jersey City Early Tuesday Morning

One person was injured early Tuesday morning following a police-involved shooting in Jersey City, authorities confirmed

According to officials, the incident occurred around 1 a.m. on Bergen Avenue, when police responded to a situation that escalated into an exchange of gunfire between an individual and responding officers.

During the confrontation, the suspect was struck by gunfire. Emergency medical personnel transported the injured individual to Jersey City Medical Center, where their current condition remains unknown.

Police stated that no officers sustained any serious injuries during the incident, though those involved were evaluated as a precaution.

A firearm was recovered at the scene, and investigators believe it was used during the exchange. Detectives from the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office and Jersey City Police Department were on-site for several hours, processing evidence and interviewing witnesses.

Authorities cordoned off several blocks along Bergen Avenue as part of the active investigation, causing temporary road closures and rerouted traffic in the area.

Officials have not yet released the identity of the individual involved, and details surrounding what led up to the encounter remain under investigation.

Residents reported hearing multiple gunshots just after 1 a.m., followed by a large police presence and flashing lights as emergency vehicles arrived at the scene.

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office is expected to release additional information once the preliminary investigation is complete.
