LOS ANGELES (KABC) — Changes are coming to Terminal 5 at LAX so renovations can be made ahead of the 2028 Olympics.
Starting Tuesday, the airlines in that terminal are being relocated. JetBlue will now be operating out of Terminal 1 while construction is underway.
In addition, Spirit Airlines will be working out of Terminal 2 beginning Wednesday. American Airlines will be moved to Terminal 4 starting Oct. 28.
Airport officials say the overall goal of the renovation work is to create a more comfortable and modern travel experience.
The refurbishment work includes adding two gates to Terminal 5 and a new post-security connection to make it possible for passengers to connect between Terminals 4 and 5.
In order to avoid airport congestion, officials say the Midfield Satellite Concourse South should keep things moving smoothly during the construction.
Work is slated to be complete by the Olympics in 2028.
