Authorities are investigating a tragic hit-and-run incident that claimed the life of 45-year-old Renay Brown of Augusta on Thursday night.
According to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred around 9 p.m. in the 900 block of Horseshoe Road. Deputies responding to the scene found Brown lying in the roadway after being struck by an unknown vehicle that fled before emergency crews arrived. Despite immediate efforts from first responders, Brown was pronounced dead at the scene by the Richmond County Coroner’s Office.
Investigators say the vehicle involved left the area before witnesses could identify it, and they are now working to gather surveillance footage and speak with residents in the neighborhood to locate the driver responsible.
