When officers arrived, they saw a person leaving the scene on a motorcycle. Police initiated a pursuit that led toward the West End, near Union Terminal. The chase ended when the motorcyclist — later identified as Hust — lost control and crashed at the intersection of Dalton and Hopkins streets.

Emergency responders pronounced Austin Hust dead at the scene. Officials with the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) confirmed that Hust was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The victim from the original incident on Westwood Northern Boulevard was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Their condition has not been released.

Police say the investigation remains active and involves multiple crime scenes — both at the Westwood Northern residence and at the crash site in the West End. Detectives are working to determine what led to the initial call and the events that unfolded immediately afterward.

Residents in the area reported seeing a large police presence and emergency vehicles near Dalton Street on Thursday afternoon as investigators processed the scene and documented evidence.

Authorities have not said whether Hust was connected to the earlier shooting or stabbing incident or whether charges were expected to be filed in that case.

“This remains a complex, ongoing investigation,” a Cincinnati Police spokesperson said. “We are piecing together what happened from the moment the first call came in to the tragic conclusion at the crash site.”

The Hamilton County Coroner’s Office is assisting with the investigation, and an official cause of death will be determined following an autopsy.

Anyone with information related to the incident is urged to contact Cincinnati Police Department’s Homicide Unit or call Crime Stoppers at (513) 352-3040.
