The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s Office has confirmed that one person was killed early Wednesday morning after a vehicle crashed into a building near 35th and Locust on Milwaukee’s north side.
The crash happened around 2:20 a.m. on October 15, when a vehicle lost control and slammed into the side of a structure that appears to be part of an MCTS (Milwaukee County Transit System) garage.
According to initial reports, Yancy Gibson, a Milwaukee resident, was inside his home when he was struck by the vehicle during the crash. Emergency crews rushed to the scene, but despite their efforts, Gibson was pronounced dead by the medical examiner shortly after.
Authorities are still investigating what caused the driver to lose control and crash into the building. No additional details have been released regarding the driver’s condition or whether any charges will be filed.
Neighbors in the area say they were awakened by the sound of the impact and rushed outside to see emergency responders working frantically at the scene.
