CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga — The Clayton County community is reeling after the tragic discovery of 6-month-old Nnakai Pratt, whose body was found Tuesday evening near a Riverdale apartment complex, ending a desperate three-day search that had captured the attention and prayers of people across Georgia.
Authorities confirmed that Nnakai’s body was discovered around 7 p.m. near a wooded area and dumpster by Valley Hill Road, approximately 84 hours after his disappearance was first reported. His father, Antonio Pearce, had initially claimed the infant was abducted during an armed robbery Sunday morning — a story investigators later determined to be inconsistent with evidence.
Police have since named Antonio Pearce as the primary suspect in his son’s death. He remains in custody on unrelated charges, including marijuana possession and multiple traffic violations, as the investigation continues.
Clayton County Police confirmed that Nnakai’s twin sibling is safe and in the care of their mother, who is not believed to be involved in the case.
“This is a devastating and heartbreaking outcome,” said a police spokesperson. “Our detectives have worked around the clock, and our hearts go out to Nnakai’s family during this unimaginable time.”
An autopsy is being conducted by the Clayton County Medical Examiner’s Office to determine Nnakai’s official cause of death.
