Dan Sikes Lafayette, IN Obituary, Cause of Death: Dedicated Owner/ Dog Trainer, Dan Sikes

It is with deep sorrow that we share the passing of Dan Sikes — a beloved son of Lafayette, Indiana; a proud U.S. Army National Guard veteran; a respected community leader; and a compassionate soul whose absence is felt far and wide.

SUPPORT THE FAMILY, GOD BLESS YOU

Dan lived a life of service, purpose, and unwavering heart. Born and raised in Lafayette, his roots ran deep in the community he loved so dearly. His time in the U.S. Army National Guard exemplified his commitment to protecting others — a value he carried into every chapter of his life. Whether serving his country, managing a team, training dogs, or advocating for change, Dan gave his all with humility and integrity.

Most recently, Dan ran a passionate and heartfelt campaign to represent District 41 in the Indiana House of Representatives. Though he did not win the election, his effort was never about recognition. For Dan, it was always about the people. About showing up. About listening. About doing the right thing, even when no one was watching.

Dan’s journey through education — from Harrison High School to Ivy Tech, Rasmussen University, and earning his MBA from Purdue University’s Daniels School of Business — reflected his belief in lifelong learning, growth, and the power of perseverance.

In his professional life, Dan was the Office Manager at Reliable Exterminators, where he led with care and efficiency. He was also the proud Owner and Dog Trainer at Pawsitive Vibes Only, combining his deep love for animals with a gift for understanding and patience. To those who knew him, Dan’s work with dogs mirrored the way he treated people — with kindness, respect, and a calming presence.

Dan was in a loving relationship with Sara Milligan, and their bond was a testament to his capacity for love and loyalty. As a partner, a friend, and a neighbor, Dan was the kind of person who made you feel safe, heard, and valued. His quiet strength reassured everyone around him. His loss is not just political, professional, or public — it is profoundly personal.
