BELVIDERE, Ill. — Authorities have identified the individual found deceased in a Belvidere park last month as 59-year-old Juan Lopez Garcia.

According to the Boone County Coroner’s Office, Lopez Garcia had been staying at the Americas Best Value Inn located in the 1600 block of North State Street in Belvidere prior to his death. Officials confirmed that the discovery was made in September and that, following an initial investigation, foul play is not suspected.

SUPPORT THE FAMILY, GOD BLESS YOU

Boone County Coroner Rebecca Wigget stated that the case remains under investigation in coordination with the Belvidere City Police Department. However, all indications at this time suggest the death was not suspicious in nature.

Authorities are currently working to locate Lopez Garcia’s family members and are asking anyone with information about his relatives or next of kin to contact the Boone County Coroner’s Office at 815-544-4470.

As the investigation continues, officials have extended condolences to those who may have known Lopez Garcia. Further details, including the exact cause of death, will be released pending additional findings from the coroner’s review.
