Washington Regional Medical Center Placed on Lockdown After Anonymous Threat; Fayetteville, AR

The Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville was briefly placed on lockdown Monday night following an anonymous threat, according to Sgt. Mauk with the Fayetteville Police Department (FPD).

Police officers responded to the hospital after the threat was reported, prompting immediate safety measures and a temporary lockdown of the facility. Sgt. Mauk said that the lockdown was implemented out of an abundance of caution while authorities investigated the situation.

As of late Monday evening, officers at the scene confirmed that no credible threat was found, and there was no danger to patients, staff, or visitors.

“Officers conducted a thorough search of the premises and surrounding areas,” Sgt. Mauk said. “At this time, we have not located anything suspicious or any indication of danger.”

The lockdown has since been lifted, and normal operations at Washington Regional have resumed.

Hospital officials thanked staff, patients, and first responders for their cooperation and patience during the incident.

The Fayetteville Police Department continues to investigate the source of the anonymous threat. No additional details have been released at this time.
