SUPPORT THE FAMILY, GOD BLESS YOU

Heidelberg Police Chief Cornell White confirmed that officers arrived to find one victim on the school’s baseball field and another near the bleachers in a tailgating area. A third victim was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Authorities said the suspect or suspects fled the scene, and multiple agencies — including the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation, Mississippi Highway Patrol, Bay Springs Police Department, and the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office — are working together to locate those responsible.

Heidelberg Mayor Robert Barnett called the incident a senseless act of violence that has shaken the community.

“This kind of tragedy cannot continue to happen in our city,” Barnett said. “We will pursue justice to the fullest extent of the law and work to ensure Heidelberg remains a safe place for all.”
