Authorities have arrested a man in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash that claimed the life of a local cyclist on Thursday night, October 9, 2025.
According to a press release from the Springdale Police Department (SPD), officers and first responders were called to the intersection of Highway 71 and Don Tyson Parkway around 10 p.m. after reports of a cyclist being struck by a vehicle.
The victim, identified as Juliet Jabuwe-Komanta, of Springdale, was transported to a nearby hospital, where she died from her injuries. Police immediately began investigating and reviewed nearby surveillance footage, which captured a white Honda Pilot at the scene.
Detectives later identified Jose Medina, 26, as the driver. According to police, Medina admitted that he struck the cyclist while making a right turn at the intersection. He told investigators that he stopped briefly but panicked and fled the scene.
Medina was arrested and booked into the Washington County Detention Center on a $15,000 bond. He faces a felony charge of leaving the scene of an accident involving death and is scheduled to appear in court on October 31.
