Josie Lynn Woodward brought joy and laughter into the world from the moment she arrived on November 23, 2000, in Blue Springs, Missouri, to her loving parents, Michael and Wendy Woodward. Growing up just down the street from her elementary school, Josie filled her childhood with neighborhood adventures and endless laughter. She attended Delta Woods Middle School and graduated from Blue Springs South High School, where she danced proudly as a member of the Touch of Silver Dance Team. Her radiant spirit shone through every performance, earning her admiration from teammates and audiences alike.
Josie carried her passion for life into her college years at the University of Missouri, where she joined the Golden Girls dance team and became a dedicated member of the Delta Delta Delta sorority. While balancing her love for friendship and fun, Josie pursued her studies in nursing with deep compassion and determination.
Her nursing career was marked by the same warmth and empathy that defined her life. As an ICU and pain management nurse, Josie made a profound impact on her patients and colleagues. Her commitment to exceptional care earned her the prestigious Daisy Award—an honor recognizing extraordinary nurses who go above and beyond for their patients.
Friends and family remember Josie for her silly, goofy personality and her boundless ability to make others feel seen and loved. Whether she was dancing in the kitchen, sharing a perfectly timed joke, or offering a listening ear, she made everyone around her feel special. Her laughter and energy were magnetic, turning ordinary moments into cherished memories.
Josie is survived by her parents, Michael and Wendy Woodward; her sister and best friend, Addi Woodward; her grandparents, Walt and Cheryl Woodward, Steve and Diana Sproul, and Larry and Betty Shell; her uncle and aunt, Eric and Mindy Sproul; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family who loved her dearly. She is preceded in death by her uncle, James Matthew Woodward, who now welcomes her with open arms.
Josie leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and kindness—a reminder to live with open hearts, find joy in the small things, and never lose the ability to be a little bit goofy. Her light will continue to shine in the hearts of all who knew her. GoFundMe
A celebration of Josie’s life will be held on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at Woods Chapel United Methodist Church (4725 NE Lakewood Way, Lee’s Summit, MO 64064). Visitation will take place from 1:00–4:00 p.m., followed by a service immediately after.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to honor Josie’s compassionate spirit and commitment to helping others. Contributions to Help the Woodward Family Honor Josie’s Legacy will support short-term family needs and the creation of a memorial fund in her name—dedicated to “doing good things,” just as Josie always did.
Josie Lynn Woodward will forever be remembered for her laughter, her love, and the light she brought to every life she touched.
