Young Man Killed After Fight in Terrebonne Park East of Montreal

A young man has died following a violent altercation involving several individuals Friday night in Terrebonne, a suburb east of Montreal.

SUPPORT THE FAMILY, GOD BLESS YOU

According to the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), provincial police were called to assist the Terrebonne Police Department after a fight broke out around 9 p.m. at Angora Park, located near Sablière Elementary School.

When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered a man between the ages of 18 and 20 suffering from serious injuries. Emergency responders transported him to the hospital, where he later succumbed to his wounds.

SQ spokesperson Camille Savoie confirmed that the incident is being treated as a homicide. However, investigators have not yet determined what weapon or object was used in the fatal assault.

Major Crimes Unit Leading Investigation
Members of the SQ’s Major Crimes Division established a mobile command post at the scene overnight to gather evidence and interview witnesses. Investigators are working to determine the sequence of events that led to the deadly altercation and the motive behind it.

Authorities say no arrests have been made as of Saturday morning, and the investigation remains active.

Possible Related Hit-and-Run
In a separate but possibly connected event, police are also searching for a young man who may have been struck by a vehicle in the same area and around the same time as the homicide.

“The events are believed to have occurred nearby and at the same time as the homicide,” the SQ said in a statement. “The victim may have suffered injuries as a result of the impact.”

Investigators are working to determine whether the hit-and-run is directly linked to the fatal altercation or if it occurred independently.

Appeal for Witnesses
Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the fight, the collision, or who has information that could assist the investigation to come forward.

Members of the public can contact the Sûreté du Québec at 1-800-659-4264 or dial 911 to provide information confidentially.

Community in Shock
The incident has left residents of the quiet Terrebonne neighborhood shaken. Angora Park, typically a peaceful area frequented by families and children, was cordoned off overnight as forensic teams combed the grounds for clues.

“This is a very calm area — we never see anything like this,” one nearby resident said. “It’s frightening to think something so violent could happen right next to a school.”

As police continue their investigation, authorities are urging the public to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activity or information that could help solve this case.

The identity of the victim has not yet been released pending notification of family members.
