The Milton Area School District community is mourning the sudden and heartbreaking loss of Sonya (Quick) Ferguson, a beloved second-grade teacher at Baugher Elementary School, who passed away Wednesday morning following a medical emergency at the school.
Superintendent Dr. John Bickhart announced Ferguson’s passing in an emotional letter posted to the district’s website, expressing deep sorrow on behalf of the school community.
“With heavy hearts, we share the passing of 2nd grade teacher, Sonya Ferguson,” the statement read. “Her love and dedication touched countless lives. Please keep her family, students, and our Milton community in your thoughts and prayers.”
Emergency responders were called to Baugher Elementary School on Wednesday morning after Ferguson suffered a sudden medical emergency while on campus. Despite immediate efforts to assist her, she tragically passed away a short time later.

Burial: St. Hubert Cemetery, Cashners Lane (off Bloom Road), Danville
Reception: Following the burial, a meal will be served at First Baptist Church
