SHOW LOW, Ariz. — The Timber Mesa Fire and Medical District is mourning the devastating loss of Firefighter EMT Glenn Collins, who was tragically killed early Friday morning in a head-on collision on Lone Pine Dam Road. District officials have confirmed that his passing is being considered a Line of Duty Death (LODD) in recognition of his service and sacrifice.
According to the Navajo County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred around 6:44 a.m. near milepost 7.5. Investigators determined that Collins, 46, was riding his motorcycle when he was struck in a head-on collision with a truck driven by a 21-year-old woman from Show Low. Sadly, Collins sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety assisted deputies in the ongoing investigation. Timber Mesa Fire and Medical District publicly identified Collins Friday afternoon, honoring his seven years of dedicated service to the department.
“Firefighter EMT Glenn Collins has proudly served with Timber Mesa for the past seven years. He was respected by his peers for his dedication to the fire service, his professionalism, and his commitment to helping others. His absence will be deeply felt,” said Public Information Officer Trinity Savage.
Though Collins was commuting to work at the time of the crash, Timber Mesa classified his death as a Line of Duty Death, ensuring his commitment to the fire service is formally recognized.
This tragedy marks another heartbreaking loss for Timber Mesa, which has now lost three firefighters in recent weeks. District officials described this as an “unimaginable tragedy” for both the department and the Show Low community, expressing deep gratitude for the outpouring of love and support from residents.
Funeral and memorial arrangements for Firefighter EMT Glenn Collins will be announced at a later date.
His colleagues remember him as a compassionate, hardworking, and selfless individual who dedicated his life to helping others. His loss leaves a tremendous void in the Timber Mesa Fire and Medical District and in the hearts of all who knew him.
