In Loving Memory of Elizabeth Barnes

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of 21-year-old Elizabeth Barnes, a beloved Gadsden native and Auburn University student, who tragically lost her life in a crash on U.S. Highway 411 Thursday evening.

According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), the accident occurred near mile marker 223, north of Turkey Town. Elizabeth was driving a Lexus SUV when it collided with the rear of a Freightliner log truck traveling in the same direction. Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene and transported her to a hospital in Gadsden, where she later died from injuries sustained in the collision. The driver of the truck was not injured.

Elizabeth was known for her kind heart, determination, and joyful spirit. As a student at Auburn University, she was admired by classmates and professors alike for her dedication to her studies and her positive outlook on life. Her friends and family remember her as a loving daughter, devoted friend, and a young woman full of promise whose life was cut far too short.

Elizabeth’s memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. May she rest peacefully, surrounded by eternal light and love.
