Authorities have identified the victim of a fatal shooting in Lake City that occurred Tuesday night. The victim, 27-year-old Nicholas Jenkins, was found suffering from gunshot wounds in the 334 Peachtree Street area.
According to Lake City Police Chief Patrick Miles, officers responded to the scene shortly after the shooting occurred. Jenkins was rushed to a local hospital for treatment but tragically died from his injuries.
The incident has left the community shaken, and officials have yet to confirm further details regarding the circumstances leading up to the shooting.
The victim’s body is scheduled for an autopsy on Thursday morning at the Medical University of South Carolina to determine the cause and manner of death.
