The Wake Forest and Raleigh communities are mourning the loss of Andrew Lee Cook, a 17-year-old student at Franklin Academy in Wake Forest, who passed away tragically on September 28, 2025.
Andrew, born on February 14, 2008, was remembered by friends and family as a bright young man whose faith and kindness touched many. He “went to be with his Lord and Savior,” according to his family, who plan to release a complete obituary soon.
A memorial service for Andrew will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Bay Leaf Baptist Church, located at 12200 Bay Leaf Church Road in Raleigh. Following the service, a visitation will take place from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the church’s Fellowship Hall, where family, friends, and members of the community will have the opportunity to gather and honor his memory.
Andrew will be laid to rest at the Bay Leaf Baptist Church Cemetery, also located on the church grounds.
The Franklin Academy community expressed its condolences, highlighting Andrew’s presence as a valued student and friend. Support services are being made available to students and staff as they process the loss.
Andrew’s passing is a heartbreaking reminder of the fragility of life, and he will be deeply missed by his family, classmates, teachers, and church community.
