The Wapakoneta Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash that occurred Tuesday night, September 30, 2025, at approximately 8:59 p.m. on US Route 33 westbound, just west of the Moulton Fort Amanda Road off-ramp.
Authorities say Riley A. Bradford, 24, of Celina, Ohio, was operating a 2004 Yamaha XVS650 motorcycle when the incident occurred. Michael C. Reichert, 55, of Van Wert, was driving a 2023 Jeep Wrangler, with Jody L. Mahlie, 56, of Middle Point, as his passenger.
According to the preliminary investigation, both vehicles were traveling westbound in the right lane when Bradford’s motorcycle failed to maintain an assured clear distance, striking the rear of the Jeep. The impact caused the Yamaha to overturn.
Bradford, who was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Reichert and Mahlie were not injured.
Responding agencies included the Auglaize County Sheriff’s Office, Saint Mary’s EMS, Buckland Fire Department, Auglaize County Coroner, Cisco Funeral Home, and Midway Towing.
Troopers confirmed that alcohol and drugs are not suspected factors. The crash remains under investigation.
