PASSAIC COUNTY, NJ — The Woodland Park community is mourning the tragic and sudden loss of Alexander Billson, a beloved middle school student whose life was cut short after a medical emergency over the weekend.
According to his family, Alexander had been feeling unwell throughout the month and was prescribed amoxicillin for what was believed to be a sinus infection. On Saturday morning, Alexander attempted to take his antibiotic when he suddenly choked and collapsed on the kitchen floor. Family members say his brain was without oxygen for at least two hours before he was stabilized and rushed to the ICU.
Despite the tireless efforts of medical teams, Alexander passed away at the hospital on Monday night. His untimely death has left family, friends, and classmates heartbroken.
Known for his kind heart, bright smile, and joyful spirit, Alexander was a son, friend, and student who brought happiness to those around him. His unexpected passing has deeply shaken the community, and neighbors have come together to support his grieving family.
Counseling and support services are being made available for students and staff as the community remembers a young life gone far too soon.
