Law enforcement officials confirmed that they are responding to reports of an active shooter at Council Rock South High School in Holland, Pennsylvania. The school was placed on immediate lockdown late Wednesday morning as a precaution.
Police have urged parents and community members to avoid the campus while officers secure the building and investigate the situation. Emergency vehicles and heavily armed officers were seen surrounding the school as students and staff sheltered in place.
Authorities have not yet confirmed whether shots were fired or if there are any injuries. As of early reports, officers are still sweeping the area room by room to ensure the building is secure.
Council Rock School District officials released a statement saying the lockdown was initiated “out of an abundance of caution” following the initial report. Parents were asked not to come to the school while the response is ongoing, as heavy traffic and crowds could interfere with emergency operations.
Nearby schools in the district have also been placed on a “secure perimeter” status, though no direct threat has been identified outside Council Rock South.
This is a developing story. More details will be provided as they become available.
