It is with profound sorrow and unwavering respect that we honor the life and ultimate sacrifice of Officer Cody Wolf of the Hays Police Department, who was tragically killed in the line of duty on Sunday, September 28, 2025, while responding to a domestic violence call.
Late Saturday night, Officer Wolf and fellow officers responded to a report of a woman fleeing a violent domestic situation. While establishing a perimeter around the suspect’s home, a single gunshot was fired from inside the residence, fatally striking Officer Wolf. Despite heroic life-saving efforts and emergency transport to a regional hospital, he passed away in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Officer Wolf was more than a uniform—he was a protector, a servant of justice, a colleague, a friend, and a beloved member of the Hays community. He dedicated his life to keeping others safe, and his bravery will forever be remembered. His death is a heartbreaking reminder of the dangers law enforcement officers face every day in service to others.
