1 Killed After Shooting in Wolf Point, Armed Suspect Ethan Murphy at Large

WOLF POINT, Mont. – Authorities are searching for a suspect after a deadly shooting Sunday evening in the parking lot of the Albertsons on Blaine Street.

At approximately 8:40 p.m. on September 28, 2025, the Wolf Point Police Department received reports of gunfire. Responding officers, including Officer Bushman, arrived at the scene within minutes and located two victims. One individual was pronounced dead at the scene. A second victim sustained a gunshot wound and was rushed to Trinity Hospital in Wolf Point after receiving immediate medical aid from police. The names of the victims have not yet been released pending family notification.

The suspect has been identified as Ethan Murphy, 26. Authorities say Murphy fled the scene before officers arrived and is currently at large. He is considered armed and dangerous. Residents in Wolf Point are urged to shelter in place, remain alert, and report any sightings of Murphy to 911 without approaching him.

Multiple agencies are assisting in the manhunt, including the Fort Peck Tribes Patrol and Criminal Investigation Unit, the Wolf Point Fire Department, and the Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Office.

The investigation is ongoing, and officials say additional details will be released as they become available.
