Multiple People Injured After Shooting at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Grand Blanc; Suspect Dead

GRAND BLANC, Mich. – Authorities are investigating a violent and chaotic incident at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 4285 McCandlish Road, where a reported active shooter and subsequent fire left multiple victims on Sunday.

Preliminary reports indicate that between six and eight people may have been shot during the attack. Witnesses described seeing two older men lying on the ground outside the church immediately following the gunfire.

Officials have confirmed the suspect is dead, though the exact circumstances of the death have not yet been released.

Scanner traffic and eyewitness accounts suggest the suspect may have intentionally rammed a vehicle into the church, possibly attempting to use it as an improvised explosive device. The impact was followed by flames that quickly engulfed the building. Fire crews at the scene reported the roof was beginning to collapse as they worked to contain the blaze.

Law enforcement has established a heavy presence in the area, with at least 15 to 20 marked and unmarked emergency vehicles responding. Multiple agencies, including local police, fire, and federal investigators, are assisting in both the shooting and fire investigation.

The number of confirmed casualties has not yet been released. A press conference is scheduled for 12:45 p.m. ET to provide further updates.

The church remains on fire, and the investigation is ongoing.
