ODESSA, Texas – Odessa Police are investigating a fatal shooting that left a 23-year-old man dead early Sunday morning on Mansion Oaks Circle.
At approximately 2:30 a.m. on September 28, 2025, officers responded to a 911 call reporting a gunshot victim inside a residence. When police and medical personnel arrived, they located a man in one of the bathrooms. Despite efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim has been identified as Nathaniel Woods, 23, of Odessa. Police confirmed that next of kin have been notified.
Following an investigation, detectives arrested Michael Rey, 22, on a charge of Manslaughter (Felony 2). Investigators believe Rey recklessly discharged a firearm, resulting in Woods’ death.
Authorities have not released further details about the circumstances leading up to the shooting, but say the case remains active. Additional evidence is being processed, and investigators are working to determine whether further charges may follow.
